Co Production's Quiet Revival The recent selection of three international co productions for the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Cinema Fund marks a significant milestone in the resurgence of cross border filmmaking in Asia.
The combined KRW140 million ($100,000) in production funding awarded to Fukada Koji's "Grateful," Jakrawal Nilthamrong's "Rhizome," and Boo Junfeng's "Trinity" represents a substantial increase from last year's single recipient.
This year's funding of nearly 100% more than the KRW65 million ($46,400) awarded in 2025 suggests a growing recognition of the value co productions can bring to the regional film industry.
